Where Are You Going?

Father Abraham had no idea.

He stepped out in faith, believing that God will direct his next step, and the next, and the next...

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. Hebrews 11:8 NIV

Sometimes we may not know the full details or have the full picture, we just know God said GO!

Are you willing to step out on that one word?

The first step is always the scariest. Will you jump when you don't know where you will land? When you can't even see the floor! Yes, God sometimes tells us to jump. It is scary. It takes courage. It
takes faith. It is risky. Some might even say it is suicide.

But, God spoke. Or did He?

Listen again. Listen to your heart. Listen to your spirit. Not your head. Your head will always talk you out of obedience. It will give you all the reasons why it is not a good idea. But, when you know that God has spoken, then you have all that you need. So start the adventure of walking with God. It is called the joyful walk of Faith.

Hebrews chapter 11 is a chronicle of ordinary men and women who walked with God. It is an exhibition of faith-walkers and the outcome of their obedience. None of them failed. And, no two walks were the same. Each succeeded to do exactly what God uniquely called them to do in their context. And, they left a legacy of faith, faithfulness and fruitfulness for us to emulate.

It was not Facebook or Instagram stuff. There was no glamour. It was bloody; it took sweat, guts and gore. Some paid a very high price. They were persecuted, misunderstood, used, abused and marginalized. But, they had their eyes firmly fixed on the reward. And what a reward!!

In your work context, do you have all the answers? Do you have everything mapped out? If so, you are probably not walking by faith. But, if you are constantly on the edge - totally dependent on God to get that task completed, that deadline met, that meeting chaired, that conversation had, that manager/colleague on your side, that promotion/raise confirmed, etc. then you are walking by faith… You need God’s help and intervention or you are completely stuck.

Faith is a joyful adventure. You never know where you might end up. But, it will be good.

God is at the wheels… So hang on!!
