Yet, I Will Rejoice

Yet, I Will Rejoice!!

Have you been so pressured at work that you just want to quit? Have you been so harassed that you have begun looking at roles elsewhere?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then you are definitely not alone.

We have all been there. The workplace can become a bloody battlefield with everyone fighting for themselves and out to get everyone else – for various reasons.

But, if you really look at it, the workplace is just a miniature specimen of society. What you see of people at work, is what people are like in society. It just happens that you are lumped together into a small space, so the brokenness of humanity is much more magnified.

Humanity without Christ is depraved and sinful.

So how do we respond? We respond as Christ responded to our brokenness and sinfulness.

He came to us with compassion and love.

He gave His life for us even while we were still sinners.

We are called to be Ambassadors of Christ in the workplace. Representing Him to a lost and dying world. He sent us into the world of work to be His eyes, hands, feet and mouthpiece.

No, it would not be easy. It might even be quite traumatic.

But, Jesus endured much more at the hands of the people He came to save. How did He do it? He was filled with the Holy Spirit, spent quality time with the Father, got His orders from heaven, set His face like flint and focused on His mission.

You are on a Mission. You are called to your workplace.

The prophet Habakkuk said it like this:

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,
Though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food,
Though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Saviour.

The Sovereign Lord is my strength;

He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19

So lift up your head, square your shoulders and be encouraged; you are not alone.
