A Blazing Fire. A Mighty Flame (a poem)

Though wars rage, storms blaze,
Turbulent waters, treacherous floods.
It's not swept, moved, or changed.
It's a blazing fire. It's a mighty flame.

God's love.
It's relentless, ruthless, real.
Do you know it?
Sent to earth, to live, to die,
a torturous death
Did you see it?
It chases the wayward, the wandering,
The wondering, and the weary.
It catches the falling,
Waits for the pondering,
Sees the solitary, and seeks the dying.
Do you want it?
A blazing fire. A mighty flame.
It heals completely, thoroughly, deeply.
It's unyielding, invincible, strong.
It will not give up
On you, or me.
What then can stop it?
Nothing.
In all creation?
Nothing.
Up above?
Nothing?
Down under?
No.
Each one eternally pre-known, pre-planned
Each one by name called, seated
Totally, fully completed.
Each one, you. Each one, me.
A blazing fire. A mighty flame.
To live, to give, forgive.
To share, to care.
To go, to show.
Show up, stand up, speak up.
Listen, lean in, learn.
Repair, renew, restore...
Life, light, liberty
Dignity and community.

Since it is so likely that children will meet cruel enemies, let them at least have heard of brave knights and heroic courage. C.S. Lewis
“God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life. John 3:16
